Welcome to the Gloria Dei Spirituality@Work Blog site. We hope you will be able to participate in this small community of people who are interested in exploring the effect of their work or workplace on their Spirituality. While we are mostly Christian in outlook, we welcome anyone's input who shares our interest in the topic.
One subject that seems to come up pretty often relates to 'ethics' as they affect us at work. Sometimes the ethics of our colleagues or even our company itself are not in sync with how we understand right and wrong. Or sometimes we know something doesn't exactly fit but we aren't sure what it is or how to describe it. Even these vague concerns affect us spiritually because they stir up our sense of personal values. Recently I was sent the following article by a member of the Auburn Hills Rotary Club-it is part of their 'creed' or identity statement.
For Rotary, The Four-Way Test is the cornerstone of all action. It has been for years, and it will be in the future. Of the things we think, say or do
Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
These four questions have been part of Rotary International's identity since it's founding in 1932.
Let me know what you think of these questions-do they help you or raise more questions? Is knowledge more valuable than happiness? On what basis do we make these decisions, or raise these issues in the workplace?
Please sign on soon and post back so we can get the discussion going-what comes to mind when you connect these words: "spiritual" and "work"?
